AMEB & Rockshcool Practical Exams

I have extensive experience teaching both AMEB and Rockschool exams, guiding students through the requirements with tailored strategies to help them excel. Whether focusing on classical pieces or contemporary styles, I ensure students are well-prepared and confident for their exams.

Who is AMEB?
The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB), established in 1918, provides graded assessments for music students across Australia. They offer:

  • A qualification that is widely recognised and respected
  • The only exam body with formal links to major Australian universities and Education Ministers
  • The most widely-used assessment system for Music in Australia
  • Assessments from preliminary to diploma levels
  • Highly-trained examiners who specialise in their instruments
  • Detailed written reports for practical exams
  • Syllabuses developed with input from teachers, parents, and students

When will my piano exam be?
AMEB offers two exam sessions annually, in May and November. If you choose to take an AMEB piano exam with me, I will handle the enrolment process. AMEB will assign a specific date and time within your chosen session. I’ll notify you as soon as your exam is scheduled.

Can I cancel or reschedule my piano exam?
To cancel or reschedule your piano exam, please submit your request in writing. I will contact AMEB on your behalf. Keep in mind:

  • Rescheduling incurs an administration fee of 75% of the original exam fee.
  • Cancelling forfeits the full exam fee.

These fees are set by AMEB, so it’s important to carefully consider your exam commitment. You can request specific dates (e.g., Saturdays), but these are not guaranteed by AMEB.

Can I use photocopies of music in the exam?
AMEB strictly prohibits the use of photocopies. Legally purchased and printed sheet music is allowed but should be neatly presented in a display folder. Books taken into exams should not have any markings on them.
